Sally Hudson

Biography

Sally Hudson is a labor economist and former state legislator who joined the National Employment Law Project in 2024. As Deputy Chief of Programs & Strategy, Sally supports the executive management team in planning, executing, and evaluating NELP’s strategic campaigns.

Prior to joining NELP, Sally served two terms in the Virginia House of Delegates, where she focused on securing fairer financial treatment for Virginia families. Her legislative achievements include reforms to unemployment insurance, medical billing, court debt, and utilities that have saved Virginians hundreds of millions of dollars in undue fines and overcharges. Sally’s policy work is rooted in her training as an economics researcher and educator. She earned her PhD in Economics at MIT and served seven years on the faculty at the University of Virginia as an Assistant Professor of Public Policy & Economics.
