Amy Morris

Biography

Amy Morris is the Director of the Amplify Fund, a national fund housed in the Neighborhood Funders Group.  Amplify Fund is committed to building power and elevating the voices of communities of color and low-income communities, to achieve more equitable community development at the regional and local levels.  Amy assumed her position in late 2017, after serving for three years as Program Director at the Fund for Global Human Rights.

Amy was previously a program officer at the Surdna Foundation, where she held two distinct positions—first in Foundation Initiatives, helping programs employ leadership development and organizing as tactics towards achieving mission-related goals, and later in the Strong Local Economies program, where her work focused on improving job quality in low wage sectors of the economy. In that capacity, Amy was instrumental in expanding the reach of the program to encompass a focus on the quality of jobs for low-wage workers, and she served as NELP’s initial program officer at Surdna.

Prior to joining Surdna, Amy was the Director of the Earlham College Border Studies Program on the US-Mexico border, where she taught courses such as Globalization, Migration, and Human Rights and US Foreign Policy to both U.S. and Mexico-based students. Earlier in her career, just before attending graduate school, Amy spent two years as a human rights and U.S. policy monitor in Colombia and Nicaragua. Other past positions include that of high school teacher, foundation consultant, and union researcher. She holds a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. in Urban Studies and Latin American Studies from Macalester College.
