Biography
Maya Pinto joined NELP as a senior researcher and policy analyst in 2017.
At NELP, Maya’s research focuses on wage and benefits standards, occupational health and safety, workforce demographics, and the structure of employment in low-wage occupations and industries.
Maya has over a decade of experience doing research and policy work at labor and community organizations, including the Service Employees International Union and the Alliance for a Greater New York. Maya’s quantitative and qualitative research, corporate strategic research, and policy development and advocacy has supported campaigns to improve standards and build power for workers in building services, trucking, waste management, personal care, home care, domestic work, and construction.
Maya’s work has been covered by national news outlets including The New Yorker, The Atlantic, National Public Radio, CBS, and The Nation.
