On April 19, 2021, Han Lu, Laura Padin, and Mayo Pinto testified before the New York City Council Committee on Consumer Affairs and Business Licensing in support of greater regulation, reporting, and transparency of so-called “body shops,” unregulated labor brokers that target New Yorkers who are under parole supervision and other forms of court-related surveillance for underpaid and hazardous work.
