On Increasing the Minimum Wage to $15 by 2020 and Eliminating the Subminimum Tipped Wage in D.C.

Summary

On May 26, 2016, Laura Huizar testified before the Council of the District of Columbia in support of increasing the minimum wage to $15 by 2020 and eliminating the subminimum wage for tipped workers. Currently the Fair Shot Minimum Wage Amendment Act of 2016 would only increase the tipped minimum wage from $2.77 per hour to 50 percent of the full minimum wage.
