Summary
On May 26, 2016, Laura Huizar testified before the Council of the District of Columbia in support of increasing the minimum wage to $15 by 2020 and eliminating the subminimum wage for tipped workers. Currently the Fair Shot Minimum Wage Amendment Act of 2016 would only increase the tipped minimum wage from $2.77 per hour to 50 percent of the full minimum wage.
